სენეგალში მდებარე ვარდისფერი ტბა, იმდენად მარილიანია, რომ აქ ცოცხალი ორგანიზმების მხოლოდ ერთი სახეობა ცხოვრობს. სწორედ ის აძლევს ტბას ვარდისფერი შეფერილობას...ადგილობრივი მაცხოვრებლები საარსებო ფულს სწორედ ამ ტბის წყალობით გამოიმუავებენ. ისინი მარილს აგროვებენ.
რეტბას წყლის საოცარი ფერი და ნავები, რომლებიც სანაპირო ზოლზე 2 კილომეტრის მანძილზეა ჩამწკრივებული სენეგალის ამ ადგილს საუცხოო ელფერს აძლევენ. ადგილობრივები ნავებს არა სათევზაოდ, არამედ მარილის ამოსაღებად იყენებენ. მამაკაცები ტბის შუაგულში შედიან, შეჰყავთ ნავები და ასე მუშაობენ. ტბის წყალი იმდენდ მარილიანი და სახიფათოა, რომ ადამიანები მასში სპეციალური დასაცავი ხსნარის გარეშე ვერ შედიან.
მეცნიერებმა რეტბას წყლის შესწავლისას აღმოაჩინეს მიკროორგანიზმები Dunaliella salina. მკვლევარ ბერნარდ ოლივერის მტკიცებით, სწორედ ეს მიკროორგანიზმი აძლევს წყალს ვარდისფერ შეფერილობას.
