This brief introduction to The Burning Crusade is intended to provide you with some new features in the game. The quantity of new  content included in the game specifically in the Outlands is greater than we could possibly be able to cover in a brief space. Jewelcrafting

The latest profession available in The Burning Crusade is called jewelcrafting. If you plan to take it further and advance your skills you'll need to align it with mining as jewelcrafting requires a lot of stone and ore. If you're planning to move the character of a higher level to jewelcrafting, you'll need to spend a lot of time looking in low-level zones for tin and copper that you can make yourself more skilled or purchase it from Auction House.

At a lower level the jewelcrafting profession is mostly focused on the creation of necklaces and rings, which only a few other professions can make. They can be made and used by you or sold to your colleagues or sold at an auction house. They aren't soul-bound and don't require any knowledge of jewelcrafting to wear them as some of the items in engineering have. Some of them are exclusive but when you find a particular band that you like and decide to make 2 of it, you'll likely only be only able to wear one at the same time.

A Cautionary Note

The first thing to be aware of if contemplating adopting Jewelcrafting as a talent for your character's new creation is that learning this ability in Azeroth is available   only in the two capital cities: Exodar or Silvermoon. People who don't belong to Draenei and Blood Elves can still become jewelcrafters, but will need to endure a long journey to one of these cities before they are able to take the class.
