ცივ ქუჩაში მიდის. კი არ მიდის მილასლასებს. სცივა. სხეულში თავქარიანი შიმშილი დაბობღავს. ტკივილი ღრღნის სულის ყავარჯენს. შიშმა თითები გაუყინა. თავისუფალია, როგორც თოლია ჯონათანი, მაგრამ სწორედ ეს თავისუფლება აშინებს. ახსენდება ბავშვობა, დედა, თბილი სახლი და რბილი ბალიში. ახსენდება და ენატრება. ახლა? ახლა არც ბავშვია, დედა არც ახსოვს, როდის მიაბარა ცივ მიწას, აღარც სახლი აქვს და, მითუმეტეს, აღარც რბილი ბალიში. მარტოა. ცრემლები მოადგა. ტირილი არ უნდოდა. არა, როგორ არ უნდოდა, უბრალოდ ცხოვრებამ ტირილიც დაავიწყა. სიცარიელით აქვს სხეული გამოტენილი. სხეულიდან გაქცევა კი, სამწუხაროდ, არ შეუძლია. გრძნობს, რომ მარტოობაშიც მარტოა და კანკალებს. სიცივისგან, თუ შიშისგან – ვერ ხვდება.
